Tim and Alexa

Hello!
Our names are Alexa and Tim, and we’re so excited and grateful that you’re taking the time to get to know us. We truly admire the incredible courage, love and selflessness you demonstrate in making this amazing and difficult decision. Through the miracle of your baby’s birth and adoption you are offering us indescribable joy as we begin our family. Your baby will be cherished not only by us, but by our family and friends who are as excited as we are to be beginning this adventure. We hope this little glimpse into our lives will show you how much love we have to offer as parents and how rich your baby’s life will be as part of our family. We would be deeply honored to be chosen to raise your baby.

Our Story
We have been together for 17 years. We became close friends during our junior year of college at the University of Miami, started dating a few months later and have been together ever since. We’re deeply in love and are each other’s best friend. We feel especially lucky to be living in Florida where our life together is filled with family, close friends, lots of laughter and all the adventures that Florida has to offer. We live in a welcoming house that everyone says is one of the coziest places on earth, with our loving and gentle dogs, Zeus and Apollo. Starting a family is our most cherished goal and we can’t wait to love and nurture, kiss, laugh and sing with, snuggle and dance with, read stories to and explore the world with the child who will complete our family.

Family and Friends
We are both extremely involved with our families and love spending as much with them as possible. Alexa’s mom lives close by and she often spends the weekend playing board games and watching movies with us. Alexa’s sister, Lisa, and her husband, Joe, live ten minutes away. Their kids, Francesca and Giancarlo, have been a huge part of our lives. Lori, Alexa’s oldest sister, lives only an hour away with our niece, Erin, and nephew, Austin. Sunday dinners are regular, lively and raucous events that include lots of great Italian food and constant laughter. Alexa speaks almost daily with her brother, Steven, who resides with his family in northern California. His two college-age children, Alex and Gianna, have stayed with us during spring breaks and Thanksgivings.

Tim is close with his parents who, along with his sister, Jayme, and her family, live in northern Illinois. Although we aren’t physically close we are close in spirit. We get to visit each other at least twice a year. They usually like to come down in the middle of winter to enjoy our fantastic Florida Christmases. We have a guest room always ready for a last minute visit.

Our family always makes huge productions out of the holidays. It is traditional for us to host a massive and elaborate Thanksgiving feast combining both our families. We always set a couple of extra places at our table for any stray friends who are unable to spend the day with their families.

Everyone is thrilled to have a new family member arrive. Our nieces and nephews are eager to have a new cousin to play with.

We also have many close friends whom we consider family and see often. Many of our friends have been in our lives for decades. They, too, are eager for the new baby, have already started buying baby clothes, and can’t wait to have the title of “Auntie” or “Uncle” added to their names.

Our Home
We bought our home six years ago with the idea of starting our family. It has four bedrooms which give us enough space for Alexa’s home office, a guest room for all of our out-of-town friends and family, and a room for our baby. We are a do-it-yourself kind of couple and regularly do our own home improvement projects. Our home represents who we are as a couple: warm, loving and welcoming.

We have a screened-in pool great for lazy days. The patio comes complete with a built-in grill which sees a ton of use during cookouts and our Fourth of July parties. Our large fenced yard, filled with mango, lemon and lime trees, is perfect for games of touch-football, Frisbee and soccer.

We live on a quiet street that is actually part of a peacock preserve so we often see peacocks with full plumage followed by a trail of adorable baby peacocks. Our neighbors are sweet and sociable people who all look out for one another and keep an eye on the neighborhood kids and pets.

We are surrounded by A-rated schools, from elementary through high school.

Our Four-Legged Family
Just after we bought our house we had to add puppies, so six years ago we went to a local dog rescue society and adopted a pair of two-month old brothers, Zeus and Apollo. They are part black Labrador, part terrier, and completely lovable. Even though they are now six years old they still have the boundless energy of puppies and amuse us daily with their antics. They are extremely loving, loyal and protective – especially of young children. Whenever our friends or family bring their kids over Zeus and Apollo are their shadows and never let them out of their sight. When we take the kids in the pool the dogs keep circling the edges and start barking if they feel the children are too far from the wall. Both of them are truly loved members of our family.

Our Hope For You
Once again, words can’t express how much we admire you for making the decision to give life to this child. If your heart leads to us, please rest assured that we will provide your baby with a safe, loving home and a life filled with family, friends and happy adventures. We wish you continued strength and peace as you work to find the very best home for your baby.

About Alexa By Tim
Her laugh. That’s the thing that cemented it for me and made me realize that Alexa is the person I want to spend my life with. Her laugh is spontaneous and absolutely sincere, just like her. Whether she just heard her mother tell a story from her youth, is talking to her best friend about “baby-poop” stories or watching our dogs tumble and play, her laugh bubbles out infectiously and anyone near her can’t help but laugh as well. I’ve seen, and felt, her laugh make the good times great and the bad times feel a little better.

Alexa is also smart, caring, genuine and extremely loyal. I know that I can always count on her. Whatever I need – love, encouragement, advice – Alexa is always there for me. There is nothing she won’t do for family or friends. She has been the one to take our nieces to buy homecoming dresses, plan double-dates with our nephew to meet his new girlfriend, take her mom to doctors’ appointments and help friends practice for job interviews. If someone needs a ride to the airport or an emergency babysitter Alexa is the one they call. She is also generous with her time for good causes. Alexa works for a pharmaceutical company that makes medicine to help children with Cystic Fibrosis. She has seen first-hand how terrible the disease can be so she spends many of her weekends organizing and working at charity events to raise money to fight the disease and help families in need.

Alexa is always ready for an adventure. She loves to plan trips to new places, then get in a car and just “get lost” and discover hidden wonders. She’s led us across a field to follow a sign to an artist’s studio in a Greek farmhouse, gone over a mountain to eat in a Tuscan kitchen at the end of a 13-mile gravel road and taken a boat off the island of Tahiti to jump in the water and watch a shark feeding up close. The excitement can also take place close to home as she has planned Saturday ocean-kayaking and national park bike rides. Wherever she goes she is sure to not only have a good time but meet interesting people. She has built friendships on vacations in Rome, Bora-Bora and Hawaii that she maintains to this day.

Alexa is also very creative. She graduated, on the Dean’s list, from film school and worked for many years as a camera person in film and on music videos. Today, she uses these skills to photograph the special events in our family’s life. Pictures Alexa has taken of our family laughing with one another fill our walls. We are saving space on these walls for the family we yet hope to have.

Alexa is very family oriented and loves to gather friends and family together at our house. The Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve and birthdays are just a few of the events Alexa hosts. Since she is Italian, no party would be complete without lots and lots of great food. I mean tons of food. The smell of her home-made pastas and sauces fill our house and let all of our guests know that they are in for a terrific meal. The best is when it is time for dessert. Every holiday must be accompanied by at least three desserts. Home-made ice creams, crème brulees, lemon-lime cheesecakes, chocolate hazelnut tortes, molten lava cakes and hand made chocolate-dipped salted caramels are just a few of the treats she has delighted our friends with. Family members make their requests months in advance for their favorite birthday desserts and she makes sure no one is ever disappointed. Her Mexican chocolate and dulce de leche torte makes mouths water and is always asked for. The amazing and intricate meals are just one way Alexa shows everyone how special they are to her.

About Tim by Alexa
I first saw Tim working as a security assistant at the front desk of our college dormitory during our sophomore year and I knew he was the “one” for me. It took another year before we officially met and became close friends, but he was well worth the wait.

I am so proud of Tim for following his calling: being a teacher. He worked in the corporate world for over ten years before he realized that he was denying his true profession. Children of all ages are drawn to Tim. I know that a lot of people say this about their loved ones, but it’s the truth. Small kids love to climb all over him (he’s 6’5”) and use him as a human jungle gym but once the novelty wears off they are infatuated with his personality, crazy sense of humor and his incredible patience. I was already in love with him before he met my family, but after he sat in my sister’s living room and played “Pretty, Pretty Princess” with my nieces and let them dress him up, he had my heart forever. His students adore him even though he’s strict in the classroom because he’s fair and compassionate. He tirelessly offers his after-school hours to any student needing extra tutoring.

In addition to his incredible patience with his students he has demonstrated unwavering loyalty and love to me through many difficult and trying times. I know that no matter what the situation he will always have my back and be by my side.

Tim also loves to cook and bake for me, as well as friends and family. He makes the most incredible homemade pumpkin pie (he bakes the pumpkins and makes the dough from scratch). Even I love it and I usually hate pumpkin pie! His porcini mushroom risotto and jambalaya are so delicious they would make an Italian celebrity chef cry from ecstasy.
Tim is always ready for an adventure, loves to hike, ski and explore new places. He is also always ready to make me laugh by doing silly, crazy impromptu dances that make me laugh so hard I think I’m going to wet my pants! It’s one of his best traits. Tim’s passion for reading and acquiring knowledge are infectious. I already shared his love of reading when we met, but he has a way of discussing plots, characters and beautiful turns of phrase that draws me (or whomever he’s talking to) in completely and I can’t wait to read that novel so we can share our thoughts. His eyes just take on this excited glow and you’re completely hooked.

Another incredible quality of Tim’s is his complete and total commitment to family and friends. If someone we know needs help moving, painting, babysitting, building something, tutoring or whatever, he’ll just drop everything to provide whatever assistance they need. If there is ever any type of emergency, Tim is the person that you want by your side because of his level-headedness, incredible problem-solving ability and his compassion.

Tim is also an avid and loyal sports fan. He loves bringing me to basketball and hockey games so that he can teach me about the players, rules of the game, etc. I am not a sports fan so it makes me a little crazy, but it is also incredibly endearing.

Tim likes growing fruit trees and incorporating our organic mangoes, lemons, limes, kumquats and herbs into his delicious, inventive recipes. It’s not unusual to see his gardening turn into a game of tag or “rough & tumble” with our 2 dogs, which is heartwarming and extremely amusing to watch!

Above all, Tim is my rock, my soul-mate, and he always makes me strive to be a better person for him and my family. He was born to be a father and I can’t wait to see him with our baby cradled in his arms.
