Patrick and Ashely
We are Patrick and Ashely from Western Massachusetts! We want to thank you for considering adoption for your baby; you are making a loving, courageous, and selfless choice. Adoption is very important to us; Ashely was adopted at birth and couldn’t be more grateful that her birthmother chose adoption. That being said, we knew that someday we would start this exciting journey towards adoption together. We would like to thank you for taking the time to learn about us; there are so many things we would love to share with you but of course there isn’t really a way to share all that is in our hearts. Please know that we would welcome your contact.
MR & MRS: Patrick and Ashely met in college in September 2001. Ashely was just starting her freshmen year at the same college in Connecticut where Patrick was a senior. It took some time for Patrick to realize what Ashely already knew… that someday they would get married and start a family. Labor Day Weekend in 2005, Patrick popped the question! After a year and a half engagement, they got married on April 21, 2007. Shortly after their one year wedding anniversary, unexplained infertility became the reason why they still weren’t pregnant on their own. Before even considering pursuing more invasive infertility treatments, adoption was going to be the path they would take. Adoption was something that they had been talking about well before getting married.
About Ashely (by Patrick): Everything about Ashely is special in my eyes. Her loving personality just makes me smile whenever she is around me. I love her quirkiness; it gets me through the day. She always is doing silly things to bring a smile to my face. Ashely is amazing around kids. Whether it be our nieces and nephews or our friends kids, she loves playing with them. Her mothering nature draws kids in, and they can’t get enough of her…she loves to spoil the little ones. Ashely is very family orientated. When my Uncle passed away this past fall, we went out to Ohio, the whole family got together and watched the Bengals play, and everyone was instructed to wear Bengals apparel, Ashely went out and bought a Bengals t-shirt…even though she is a diehard Steelers fan! She had everyone in the family sign the shirt so she can remember that day. She did it all for the family.
About Patrick (by Ashely): Patrick is my best friend. He is a kid at heart, and will be a great father. His love for children is evident in how he interacts with our nieces and nephews, as well as other children. Patrick has a knack for interior and exterior painting and he takes great pride in his work. He has such a huge heart, and his patience humbles me. Over the last couple of years, both of our families have lost loved ones; I couldn’t have gotten through losing both of my grandmothers in 13 months without his strength, courage and love. I never knew that a man could give me so much confidence, to just be me!
In Our Free Time: We are an active couple who enjoys some fun competition; bowling, playing cards/board games, as well as the Nintendo Wii are some of our current favorites. We support Patrick’s youngest brother, who lives on the other side of the state, in his Special Olympics games and we love coaching Special Olympics soccer together in our area. We fill our weekends with family and friends social gatherings and of course some special time together! In the summer, you can find us most weekends relaxing by the pool at Ashely’s parents near by house. We know how lucky we are to live just a couple towns away from them. In the summer, We have several annual trips including a beach week to the NC shores with Ashely’s side of the family. A camping trip has also become a yearly ritual with our next door neighbors who have become our best friends. Ashely was unconvinced at first about camping, but after one try we have gone each summer since!
Family & Traditions: There are many reasons that Patrick and Ashely feel that they are blessed, but the biggest blessing is that they have such incredible parents to look up too and that they are extremely supportive and give them such great insight on so many aspects of their life and marriage. Since being married, they have created a tradition of having Thanksgiving dinner for their parents and Patrick’s youngest brother at their home. Patrick and Ashely are very grateful that their parents have such a nice relationship with each other; it makes it really easy to have stress free holidays!
WOOF! (Hi), I am TEK (Patrick & Ashely’s FURBABY)! I am almost 4 years old and I am a CAIRNPOO (cairn terrior/toy poodle). I have been in the family since I was 2.5 months old. I love when Ashely makes homemade pizza…because I get to eat some yummy crust. I am gentle around their nieces and nephews and can’t wait to be a big brother! Patrick takes me for long walks and sometimes I get to run around the school yard without my leash! I enjoy playing ball and eating treats…I plan on teaching my new little brother/sister how to sit pretty!
