Ohm and Jan

Dear Birth Mother,
Miracles happen each and every day, and your decision with the gift of adoption is a miracle in itself! Our names are Jan and Ohm, and we would be honored to be a part of your decision and help to complete your miracle as well as ours. You are such an amazing person in our eyes, and we know choosing adoption can be a difficult and confusing choice. Adoption is a gift you will give your child that will last their whole life. As adoptive parents, we vow to ensure your child has a bright future, that he or she will be surrounded by a loving family, and that he or she will be afforded every opportunity to pursue his or her dreams in life. We truly appreciate you taking the time to read about us and your consideration for us to be right match for you and your child.

A short story about us
We met through mutual friends over seven years ago and both knew right away that we had found our soul mate. After nine wonderful months of dating we got engaged. We had the most amazing sunset wedding on the beach in Key West, Florida almost six years ago. It was a small, picturesque wedding with only us and our families present. Upon returning home from our trip we had a big reception with all of our friends and extended family. We love each other’s company and enjoy doing just about anything as long as we are together. We take at least 2-3 long vacations each year and enjoy going to the mountains, the beach, and visit family that live far from us. Things we like to do on vacations (besides relaxing) are snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, camping, hanging out on the beach, shopping, and simply taking in the beauty of nature. This past year we went to visit Ohm’s father and step-mother in the mountains of Virginia where we camped and enjoyed the outdoors. We also went to Hawaii for ten days on the most amazing vacation ever! Our latest trip was a cruise to the Caribbean with some of our close friends. We have been blessed and are fortunate to both have great careers which enable us to take time off and enjoy our passion for traveling.

We have always wanted to have children, and even talked about how wonderful it would be to adopt a child one day even before we were married. After trying to have a child naturally, we turned to fertility specialists. After numerous failed fertility treatments, we knew that it was our destiny to adopt. God has a plan for everyone, and we are so excited to adopt a child and fulfill our dreams of starting a family and complete gods plan for us.

Our Home and Neighborhood
We live in a very quaint suburban neighborhood just outside of one of the most amazing, diverse, and largest cities in the United States. We have a beautiful new custom built home that is both clean and filled with love. We have two of the most amazing and loving dog’s one could ask for (Long Haired Dachshund and a German Shepherd). They love children just as much as we do and can’t wait to have a little one running around the house to play with. Our home is on a cul-de-sac street in a neighborhood that is filled with children that enjoy playing outside and neighbors that are always out enjoying a peaceful walk or jog. All homes in the neighborhood are custom built and are on at least one acre of land so there is plenty of plush green grass to play on (which all the children love around here). There are hundreds of huge oak trees on every lot which provides shade from the summer heat, and not only for us but for the many family of deer that live in the area as well. The deer are so beautiful and can be found every morning and evening hanging out in the front yard and the natural areas throughout our city and neighborhood. We have become good friends with many of our neighbors and their families, and we often get together for cook outs, game nights, and pool parties during the summer. Many of us go to the same church and we all love getting together to help during charity events such as working the pumpkin patch each year.

Meet Ohm
I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and moved to Texas when I was five, and have been here ever since. I joined the United States Air Force shortly after high school and am a paramedic and nurse by trade. I have been on active duty for almost 18 years now and will be retiring from the Air Force in a couple of years after 20 years of service at which time I look forward to starting a new career. I strive to be the best at what I do and have been awarded multiple medals and awards of distinction throughout my career for going above and beyond on a daily basis. I recently volunteered to be a recruiter for the Air Force which I find to be very fun and rewarding. My job is basically to find and award scholarships to medical students who in return will be medical professionals in the Air Force upon completion of college/medical school. A huge perk with this new position is that I will not have to move or deploy again before retirement (Jan really likes that!). I love my job so much that I am working on obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Human Resources in case I want to continue this type of work after I retire from the Air Force. I am very active and love working out and doing things outdoors. On weekends you will find me camping, boating, hunting, fishing, or riding my dirt bike with friends. During the week I am at the gym every morning before work. In the evenings I enjoy cooking dinner, playing with our dogs or taking them for a walk, and relaxing on the couch with my beautiful wife.

Ohm (by Jan)
Ohm is the love of my life! He is a wonderful man who is a great husband and will be an even better father. He is smart, sensitive, and very thoughtful. He commits himself 100% to every choice he makes. His personality is magnetic…meaning when you meet him you want to be around him. Ohm is the perfect mix of being a kid at heart and a responsible man. He truly is the most amazing man I have ever met, and I look forward to starting a family and spending the rest of our lives together.

Meet Jan
I am the youngest of five. I moved to Texas when I was nine years old. After high school I went to college where I double majored with degrees in Finance and General Business. I am now a sales representative for a pharmaceutical company and have been with them for eleven years. I have won numerous awards with my company and have even won the most prestigious award called Presidents Club. I enjoy meeting patients who tell me how my medicines have changed their life! This makes my job so rewarding and the reason I love it so much. I most enjoy spending time with Ohm and our families; this includes the two cutest and sweetest dogs in the world (Champ and Astro).

Jan (by Ohm)
Jan is the most beautiful, loving person you could ever meet. She is always positive and everyone just loves to be around her. I noticed this the first time I met her, and knew right then I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. She has many wonderful friends and seems to make new ones every day due to her wonderful, outgoing personality. Jan loves to be around children, and often goes out of her way to do things with and for our nieces and nephews. I know deep in my heart she will make the most amazing mother one day (I know our dogs would second that notion) and I can’t wait to raise a child together with her.

Our Families
Jan is very close with her two sisters. Shannon is the oldest and is married with two children. Cari is a single mom with one child. They are both very excited about our adoption. They give us baby stuff every time we see them. Jan has two step-brothers, Paul and Ross. Paul is the oldest and is the only sibling that does not live near the family. He is married with no children. Ross is married with two children. Jan is very close with her parents. They are both retired and enjoy their life together. Jan makes time to have lunch with them every other week. Jan’s father was adopted and they are both very excited and supportive of our decision to adopt. Growing up we would take one big vacation a year. These vacations were often set around visiting family. The best vacation was Jan’s senior year when they spent six weeks in Europe visiting seven different countries. Ohm has a younger sister and brother. His sister Fallon is married with two children and we really enjoy hanging out with them. His brother Devin is a senior in high school. Ohm and Devin enjoy skiing, paintball, and playing video games together. Ohm’s mother and step-father live very close and we do a lot with them on the weekends (camping, BBQs, and boating). His father and step-mother live out of state. We visit them at least two times a year and they do the same. Ohm has always been close with his parents. Growing up his parents enjoyed doing things that tailored around making him a well rounded man. They traveled often all across the country. They always did outdoor activities together, such as fishing, camping, hunting, and playing every sport you can think of. Ohm was always fond of baseball, and his dad was even his coach for a few years in little league. He keeps up his passion and love for sports by playing softball and by playing with all his nephews every chance he gets. Being blessed with a very close and loving family that raised us with strong morals and family values is why we are who we are today.

In Conclusion
We vow to give your child every opportunity needed to become a confident and successful adult. We promise to always give them a home filled with love and laughter. They will know what an angel you are and the gift you gave them.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

With Love,
Ohm and Jan
