Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Norma and Jeff
We are Jeff, Norma and Rigo. We (Jeff and Norma) will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary very soon and are excited to expand our family for a second time through the miracle of adoption. When we met, we found that we shared the same personal goals to have a family, and the same desire to nurture, teach and pass on our family traditions to our children. We both have strong role models that shaped the love of our families; our grandmothers, who we can look to as well as our extended families for support. As parents, we vow to always provide a home filled with love, support and acceptance, just as our parents did for us.
OUR HOME:
We live in West Texas, where it is sunny and pleasant most of the year. Our home is on a quiet street in an old established neighborhood. Our neighborhood is very family oriented. We live in Norma's childhood home and are a very short drive from many family members. There is a unique specialness in raising children in the home Norma grew up in and getting to know the neighbors that remember Norma as a little girl.
OUR FAMILIES:
Jeff was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. His mom and dad are happily married and still live in the same home that he grew up in. Adoption to him is a very natural option to creating a family; his mother was adopted as well as his best friend that he has had since 7th grade. Jeff’s sister Lisa is married and lives in the Washington, D.C. area, where her husband David serves in the Navy where they are raising their two sons and a daughter.
Norma is from Texas. Her parents are still married and living in the same home she grew up in since the age of five. She has a large Mexican family that spent every Sunday at her maternal grandmother’s house with aunts, uncles, and cousins; some of whom are adopted. She is blessed in that some of her family members are her best friends.
Rigo was born July 18, 2009 in the Los Angeles area. He is a very happy and healthy boy that keeps mommy and daddy on their toes. He is a very focused little boy that enjoys many different activities. He goes to Gymboree twice a week to play and learn with other children his age, as well as the local libraries to play with the neighborhood children. He visits grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles and cousins on a regular basis where he is showered with the love and attention of family. Our son is our primary focus as will be his little brother or sister. We believe a child should have a brother or sister to grow up and share life’s adventures and cannot wait for the day when Rigo becomes a big brother and we become parents for a second time.
ABOUT US:
We recently moved from Southern California to West Texas in order for our children to be raised with a large loving family nearby. We feel that the love and support of family is crucial in raising our children.
We have been blessed with the opportunity to have one parent as a stay-home-parent at all times providing Rigo with the type of love and stability that only a parent can provide. While we lived in Southern California, Jeff was a stay-at-home father and Norma was a Medical Sales Representative that worked from home. Jeff is in Retail Management now and Norma is a stay-at-home-mother. Whenever we are not with family we enjoy spending a quite day with our son or relaxing with a good book. Jeff has played soccer since age 5 and still plays once a week at a local indoor field. Norma enjoys working out as well.
Jeff about Norma - I have always admired Norma for her spark and her zest for life. She has many admirable qualities, but the most outstanding is that she is a fighter. She stands up for people who need help. She is truly good at everything. I am strongly attracted to passion; having a passion for life & she has it. Also, when we first met and went over our goals, I told her it was very important to me that she would want to have children, and when I watched her interact with her nieces & nephews, I knew that I had found the mother of my children. Now that I have watched her become a mother and beam with joy when she’s around our son, I know that I made the right choice for my children. It is a wonderful thing to be able to start every morning hearing my son go from crying to giggling as Norma enters his room and my son sees his loving Mommy.
Norma about Jeff – Jeff is a very kind; patient, sensitive man who is always willing to make his family happy. He is a loving father and provides Rigo with so much love and care; I cannot put it into words. His loving attention and background in Child Psychology are some of the reasons why Rigo is becoming the happy and healthy little boy that he is. He is the eternal optimist and is always willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and sees things from someone else’s point of view. He is convinced that everyone has a good nature and a loving heart. The day he asked my mother’s permission to marry me he told her “I will always put Norma’s happiness before my own” and to this day, 5 years later, it is a true statement. I can now extend that to our son and any other child we bring into our home. And for that alone – I am blessed to have him as my husband, and friend.
Thank you again for taking the time to learn about us and for considering us as your child’s adoptive parents.
Sincerely,
Jeff & Norma
