Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Michele
Dear Birth Mother,
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and find out about me as a potential adoptive Mother. I cannot imagine what moral courage and strength you possess in making the decision in creating an adoption plan for your child. I have always wanted to be a Mother. I know that adoption was the best way to make my dream come true. I want you to know that I will love, protect, cherish and raise your child in a loving and caring atmosphere. As a single Mother, I have the vast support of family and friends to help me to raise your baby. I will give her every opportunity available to me so that she can become a whole and healthy individual. All I can say is thank you again and let you know that I am filled with boundless gratitude for the opportunity to become a parent.

A little about me
My name is Michele and I live in Southern California. I am single but hope not to be forever! I am still waiting to meet the right man for me. I am not discouraged, just learning to be patient. I do not want to delay the wonders of having a child any further and am so excited and ready to start that journey. Adoption is an amazing thing and I thank you for your choice.
I seem to be afflicted with the strange dichotomy of loving to travel and love being home. When I was young I was bitten badly by the travel bug. I visited New York City, where my older sister went to school. I was exposed to the theater, great restaurants, museums and people living life on the street. When I was in high school I went to school in England for a year. It was an amazing opportunity; I was able to travel all over Europe. I learned how to be self-reliant and learned to live and get along with people from every corner of the globe. These lessons have served me well my whole life. I love history and learning about other cultures and how different people around the world live their lives. I have been able to travel to India, Nepal, Russia, Europe, Morocco, Alaska and Hawaii. I love everything English and French. Paris is my favorite place in the world and I am learning the French language, although I am not very good at it.
On the other hand, I love being at home. My home is very important to me; I love taking care of my plants and my fabulous cat, Gwenie. I love having friends and family over for meals, playing games or watching movies. I have also become addicted to working out. I love to do pilates, workout and my new exercise, running. I want to get in shape so that I can run a marathon, well, maybe a 5k to start.
I love exploring and learning about the city that I live in and finding new things to do. Family and friend traditions are very important to me. My family and I love to celebrate all the holidays and birthdays. For over ten years, my friends from high school and I get together all the time at each other’s houses for sleepovers; we sit around in our pajamas reading celebrity magazines, talking and eating lots of chocolate. I cannot wait to have a child to be a part of such loving and caring family and friends.

My family and friends
Honestly I don’t know where I would be without my three older sisters. Our Father passed away when we were young and our Mother is now gone too. We are very close and they are so excited about being aunties, they are about to burst. I share many of the same characteristics with my sisters but we are all individuals and I know that who they are as people will impact positively on your child. My oldest sister loves music, the theatre, reading, writing and everything creative. My oldest sister has fabulous manners and a wicked sense of humor. My second oldest sister is the athlete of the family, she will teach your child how to play tennis and play video games, which I am happy to let her do. My third oldest sister is the Martha Stewart of the family. She is a great cook; she is very crafty and is an incredible needle-pointer. My sisters all live very close by. My extended family is large, with lots of babies and toddlers who will be playmates for the new little one. My whole family is close, we love having parties, going to dinner and just hanging out with each other. We spend many holidays together so that the younger children are able to see and get to know all their cousins.
I know everyone says this, but it is true, I have the greatest friends in the world. I have a core of girlfriends from high school who are so excited about me adopting they can not wait to be aunties too. I have been blessed with friends who have stayed with me through thick and thin and support me in everything I do. My friends from high school and I have traveled to Italy, New York, Las Vegas, Catalina, and Paris together. When we go on our next trip, we will have a new, and often-noisy little companion. All my family and all my friends think I have made the best decision and I think they are all right too.
What I do for a living
The best way to describe what I do for a living is that I am like a librarian, but for artwork. I make sure that all the paperwork is correct and that the painting is in good condition at all times. I have a degree in Collections Management in Museum Studies. I have worked in museums and for private art collectors. Right now, I am an independent contractor, which means I have a flexible schedule and will be able to be home to take care of the baby. I enjoy working with the artwork and the wonderful, talented and creative people I meet in my job.

My home
I just bought my first home in October of 2010. It has been a wonderful and challenging experience, just like being a parent would be. I love my home; it is a townhouse in a wonderful area, close to mountains and about 40 minutes away from the ocean. There are 18 units in my complex and some of my neighbors have young children. My home has two bedrooms, three baths, two patios and is three stories with plenty of room for a growing child. My area is very peaceful and has trees everywhere. My street is quiet also, even though there are lots of kids around! I live very close to two world-class museums, theatre and concert venues. There are many parks in the area and I am close to two in particular. The community where I live is very family-oriented, with great schools, churches and activities for children of every age.

As a parent I promise
I believe parenting is the hardest work and also the greatest purpose you have in this life. I promise that I will do the best for your child, I will give them a well rounded education and teach them to love and respect themselves and the world around them. I want to take her on trips to show her how other people live and view the world. I will provide a safe home and a loving family and friends with whom she can count on. I believe it is the role of the parent to teach and create healthy boundaries for children, so they can grow into the person they are and not what anybody else wants them to be.
I want to express my thanks again for reading this letter and learning a bit about me. I hope your decision to give the gift of your child brings you peace. I will always be indebted to you and will forever be in my prayers and in my heart.
