There’s so much we want to tell you but it’s not easy packing your life into a few pages! So, we hope this will give you a pretty good idea about who we are and the parents we are more than ready to be. Our hearts are big and open, and we would be so honored to shower your baby with every ounce of love within us. We believe that people’s paths cross for a reason and hope that we have been put in each other’s lives at this time for this very blessed reason.

Boy Meets Girl
We met at a beach bonfire in southern California 17 years ago and created some sparks of our own! We’ve been together ever since. The funny thing is, we only met because we were both about to backpack through Europe (Matty by herself) and Loren’s brother thought she might want some company. Little did anyone know that fate was at work. We discovered pretty fast that we had so much in common—from our quirky humor, playfulness, values, love of music, travel and the great outdoors, to our outlooks on life and strong bonds with our families. And, of course, our shared dream of having a family of our own.
To honor Loren’s heritage and because we tend to do the unexpected, we were married on a hilltop in Scotland. It was truly magical. The locals treated us like celebrities—we were even on TV! Our bond has grown stronger over the years and we’re grateful every day for the love we share. Although our lives are happy and full, there’s a space that only a child can fill. Long before we discovered Matty could not carry a baby, adoption was placed on our hearts. All roads have led us to this point in time and we simply cannot wait to share our lives with a child.

About Loren by Matty
Loren grew up in a sleepy beach community in California and has a laid back personality to match. He’s like that favorite pair of jeans that always make you feel so comfy. There are no pretenses about him. He’s witty, fun-loving, non-judgmental, kind and patient. All the reasons I fell in love with him!
Loren loves most sports and played football, baseball and basketball throughout his life. Right now, he’s into golfing, rock climbing, hiking, jogging, jet skiing and playing volleyball and softball. He’s faithful to his teams (especially his Chargers)—almost as much as he is with his family and friends. But I have to say, he’s not just a jock! He also digs photography (we have contests about who got the best shot), painting (he recently sold his first one), music (he’s always introducing me to new artists), museums, history and exploring new places. I know he can’t wait to show the wonders of the world to a son or daughter.
Loren’s commitment to giving of himself runs deep. During his years as a teacher, he coached basketball and high school football. He also mentored at-risk youth and taught special needs children one summer. Loren’s determination has always been an inspiration to me over the years. He put himself through college and graduate school while working two jobs and coaching. When he felt called to serve in another way and became a firefighter, I’ve never been more proud. I know Loren feels good about all he’s accomplished in his life so far but I can honestly say that none of it will compare to the day he becomes a daddy.
About Matty by Loren
Matty is my light, best friend and unwavering rock. She’s the kind of person who smiles and really means it. What you see is what you get. She loves deeply and is generous with her hugs, affection and encouragement. Maybe that’s why she’s a kid magnet! Matty believes that friendship is one of life’s greatest sweeteners, and she’s one of the most loyal, thoughtful and giving people I know. To her, laughter is the best medicine and she’s prone to committing random acts of silliness like rapping about walking the dog or doing the dishes! Above all, Matty is a kind soul who will pour herself into loving and nurturing your baby.
Matty has an adventurous spirit. She lives out loud, squeezing as much out of life as she can. If it means traveling to new places or trying new things, she’s all in. She finds peace in nature and has a profound love of all things outdoors—especially the ocean. Her passions are many. Painting, traveling, photography, music, acting and interior design are among them. And, although she won’t admit it, she’s a closet sports fan. I’ve caught her shouting at the TV during the NBA playoffs with no one around!
Matty is a talented writer and blessed to have a successful career in the marketing industry. She has much to be proud of, yet her life’s purpose will not be fully realized until the day she becomes a mom. And that day will be the highlight of both of our lives.
Family & Friends
We’re both fortunate to have such loving and supportive families. Everyone is over-the-moon excited that we’re going to adopt and just waiting to welcome a new baby into the family. Our parents are especially anxious to spoil him or her rotten! Together, we have two sisters, two brothers, six nephews, two nieces, four great nieces, one great nephew, three parents and tons of cousins, aunts and uncles (Loren’s dad is one of 16 children!). That’s a whole lot of love to go around! This doesn’t include our extended family—our best friends and their children. We’re very close to our loved ones and family is our priority.
BBQs, birthday bashes, pool parties, big family dinners, holiday festivities, Wii competitions, annual summer vacations, ski trips, Easter egg hunts and Christmas gatherings. We look forward to sharing all of this with a son or daughter, making memories of our own, and creating new family traditions together.
Home Sweet Home
We live in a close-knit, culturally-rich neighborhood that’s overflowing with kids of all ages. A new baby will never lack for a playmate here! We’re close to the beaches, mountains, parks, lakes, awesome schools and some of the best medical facilities and universities in the country.
We have wonderful neighbors who have become some of our closest friends. It’s the kind of place where we all help each other…whether that means babysitting, watching each other’s pets or making a meal when someone’s sick. It’s a great support network and we feel so lucky.
Our home is cheery and comfortable—with plenty of room for a growing family. It also has a big backyard, beautiful creek and woods for a child to explore. Right now, our sweet dog, Paidia and mellow cat, Morrissey rule the roost but we’re all anxious to fill our home with the sound of giggles and the pitter-patter of little feet!
