Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Kathy and Mary
We are Mary & Kathy from Texas. We are very happy that you have decided to learn a little about us and our family. While we can never begin to understand the feelings and emotions that you must be experiencing as you make your birth plan, adoption is something we both relate to on a personal level. The following quote was given to Mary as a baby by her adoptive parents. We look forward to passing this on to our child.
Adoption Creed:
“Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute you didn’t grow under my heart, but in it. “

About Us
When we were first introduced in 2005, there was an immediate connection. We knew we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together. In 2009, we had a beautiful commitment ceremony to signify our love and devotion to one another. We have two beautiful children, Luca and Julia, and our lives revolve around their happiness. From the beginning of our relationship we knew we wanted to adopt another child. We strongly believe that love is what makes a family.
Mary is a teacher’s assistant at a private quality learning center. She works in early development for infants and toddlers, as well as the after school program for ages 5-12. She loves to volunteer for the local YMCA. She has assisted in coaching t-ball and baseball teams for the last three years. While Mary prefers to be part of the coaching, Kathy prefers the ‘team mom” role. She loves to bake cakes and cupcakes for the end of the season and birthday parties. Kathy is a child nutritionist at our local middle school. The careers we have chosen allow us to have the same schedules as our children, because we strongly believe that quality time with our children is the most important thing.
From Mary
My parents had my brother two years before I can along. They wanted another child so badly, but due to my mom’s severe health complications, natural childbirth just wasn’t possible again. They adopted me when I was eleven days old. My mom (adoptive mom) was also adopted as a child. When Kathy and I told her we were ready to go forward with our desire to adopt. She smiled and said (well adoption Is genetic in our family). My parents raised me with love, encouragement, patience, and compassion. They celebrated my adoption day every year (even now as an adult) with a “ BonusDay “. This is like an extra birthday for me each year to signify the fact that I was a bonus to the family. This is a tradition that I look forward to passing on. I had always known that I was destined to adopt a baby. I have grown up with a deep admiration for my birth mother. She gave me a chance at life and I am forever grateful. I know that it takes a special strong heart to do what you are doing. I want you to know that we are so appreciative for being considered to be the adoptive parents for your child. I promise you from the deepest depths of my soul that this baby will be loved with the biggest hearts, and always be treated like the miraculous gift he or she truly is.

From Kathy
I was raised in Southern California with my mother, step father (who I consider my father), and my sister. As far back as I can remember I always knew I wanted to adopt a child. My father was adopted as a toddler. My grandparents always made sure he knew how special he was. His adoption was celebrated and to this day he, he still has contact with his birth mother. I have a very large extended family that enjoys family get togethers, holiday parties, and Sunday dinners. We all look forward to our annual family vacations. As adults, my sister and I want to make sure that the family traditions we shared as children, are passed along to our families. My sister is my best friend. Her son is my only nephew and he is a wonderful cousin to our children. My mother and father are also a big part of our lives. They are fantastic grandparents that always look forward to any opportunity to spoil their grand kids.
Our Home
Our home is very spacious and always has a warm and welcoming feeling. From the first time we saw it, we knew it was home. We live in a wonderful neighborhood with lots of children and families. Walking the neighborhood trails, bicycle riding, and swimming at the local pool are just a few of the things we love to do as a family. Our close friends come over for family game night once a week. They have two children and one on the way. Our families are always looking for an excuse to get together. We enjoy many barbeques and birthday parties in our backyard.
We want to thank you again for your interest in us and hope that we have given you a little window into our lives. We look forward to meeting you and sharing in this beautiful experience.
With the warmest wishes,
Mary & Kathy
