Julia and Liliane

We are thinking of you and wishing you the best as you make this difficult, courageous and loving decision. Thank you so much for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We are really excited to grow our family with your help.

We are Julia and Liliane. We live in a wonderful neighborhood in Northern California. We met 9 years ago and were good friends before we fell in love. We were legally married in October 2008 and celebrated the occasion with a big party with our family and friends in our backyard.

After several years of infertility treatments, we embarked on this journey of adoption. We just know that our life includes a child and we both will love and protect him or her with all our hearts. We have so much to share and can’t wait for a very special child to love and share it with. We would like to give your child all of the opportunities in life. We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to get an education, travel the world, pursue our interests and meet so many amazing people. We want all that and more for the newest member of our family.

We have close relationships with our friends and families. Our neighbors are like an extended family with nine children under age four on our street, some older kids and retired people that are like our second parents. We feel incredibly safe and comfortable here. Summer evenings you will often find the whole neighborhood outside just hanging out watching the kids ride bikes or play on the small playground in the circle. Our town is beautiful and has many great family activities within walking distance from our house - in the summer there are street fairs and concerts in the park. We love all the great restaurants and farmer’s markets – there is access to so much fresh and delicious food here of all varieties. We spend most of the summer outside or in our backyard having barbeques and swimming with friends and family. After having lived and worked in the city, we both love the calm and quiet here and the slower pace of life. But the city is only an hour or so away, so we get to enjoy it too.

Liliane is fiercely loyal and loving. She is clear in her values and shows incredible strength in the face of adversity. She also has a silly side that gets us both giggling. Liliane is the tech guru in the house and loves gadgets and music. She keeps our computers running, makes sure we watch our movies in HD and surround sound and that there is always music playing out by the pool. Liliane put herself through college and has continued to study languages which she is really good at. She has a degree in accounting and is a project manager. She likes to keep fit, swims whenever she can and goes to the gym regularly. She loves to take pictures and keeps all of our family and friends updated with our latest adventures. Liliane is going to be a great parent. She will be the baby’s great protector and teach him or her so many things.

Julia is the nicest person that you will ever meet. I’ve never known anyone that was so sweet, patient and understanding. She is incredibly smart and always amazes me with her knowledge. When she graduated from college, she went to Japan to teach children how to speak English. She speaks Japanese as well as some Spanish. Julia also has two law degrees. She is extremely helpful to everyone and enjoys making people happy. She is a great cook and makes the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. She is a reader, a painter, and a caring lawyer. She helps people plan their wills and trusts and is always happy when she is able to help people feel safe about their future.

And Lola
Lola is our rescue dog – a mutt. She is a surprisingly amazing dog loved by all. The neighborhood kids hug and kiss her and pull her tail all of which she tolerates without complaint. She loves people more than other dogs and also hates the water which turns out to be a good thing because we never have a wet dog in the house. She is a house dog and although she is not supposed to go on the furniture, we know she does when we are not home, because she never puts the pillows back in place! Lola travels with us whenever we can bring her and she loves to get in the car and go.

Our Families
Our families live in California and Oregon and we visit each other often. We have both traveled the world but we feel that the best vacations are the ones spent with our families.

Liliane’s immediate family (mom, brother and sister) live about two hours away in the town where Liliane spent much of her childhood and we spend many holidays and family occasions there enjoying her sister (and brother-in-law)’s awesome cooking. Liliane has many cousins and other relatives in that area as well. Liliane has a very close relationship with her sister – they talk on the phone for hours, laughing and catching up on her niece and nephew’s latest accomplishments.

Julia’s family (mom, dad and one brother) live in Oregon and because Julia, her brother and her sister-in-law all went to the University of Oregon, everyone in the family is a U of O Duck fan. Julia’s parents live in Oregon in a resort town in the mountains and in the winter they spend time at their home in Southern California, which is great for us because we really feel like we are on vacation when we go visit them in both places. When we go to Oregon, we take our dog, Lola for long walks, go fishing and play games with the whole family. In the desert we swim and barbeque and drive around in the golf cart (Lola loves the wind in her hair!).

Julia’s parents are very supportive of their two grandchildren. They go to all of their sports activities even when they have to travel out of state. They can’t wait to have a new grandbaby to cheer on. They are the most loving and generous people we know and make friends everywhere they go. They will celebrate their 45 wedding anniversary soon. They visit us often especially around the holidays. Julia’s mom decorates every room in their home at Christmas time which makes it a very festive.
