Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Jane
Thank you for considering me in your adoption plan as you search for a loving family. I am a warm, compassionate, conscientious, and imaginative person ready to open my heart and home to your baby.
My name is Jane. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, the youngest child of James and Winona. My brother, David, is two years older, always the understanding big brother. My parents were both teachers. My mother spent many years teaching typing and accounting in a high school business department. My father was an elementary science teacher and principal. Both have been happily retired for approximately fifteen years.
The wonderful fact that my parents were teachers let our family enjoy many summers together. We were able to travel to many parts of the country, mostly to visit other family members. I spent many memorable summer moments with cousins and aunts and uncles. Also, my mother’s parents lived nearby on a dairy farm, so weekends were spent visiting and learning about animals and nature. This gave rise to a great variety of pets throughout my childhood.
My family was and still is very active in our church. My parents have a great faith and have instilled their beliefs on my brother and me. I participate with teaching and sharing my talents at church as a result of the examples that my father and mother set during my life.
I have many wonderful memories of my childhood and youth. My parents were always good mentors and provided a stable loving home. As an elementary teacher and principal, my father had terrific fun ideas for learning and discipline. I remember him using a sticker/reward system for many chores and homework incentives. I honestly have to say though that I seem to remember my brother having more stickers than me. I think he was an overachiever.
I was very fortunate to attend a great college. My brother and I were both in the marching band during college. He played drums; I played piccolo. My parents were very supportive during this time in our lives. I don’t think they missed any football game or event. They were always cheering from the crowd and clapping with great enthusiasm. Many a time my parents made special meals or offered a ride or a place to stay.
I tended to be drawn to the more social crowd than my brother was in college. I joined the band fraternity and became very involved in many activities. Many of the friends that I made in those activities still make up a core of close friends today. We have planned many activities and have kept in touch often throughout the years.
I believe that I have a close relationship with my family. My parents have been very supportive in whatever decisions that I have made in my life. I have always been able to discuss any problems, be they minor or major. My parents have been a stable positive influence on my life. My brother, also, is a constant in my life, even though at times we argue. He and his wife provide an example of a loving secure couple.
I am finishing my seventeenth year as an elementary media specialist. I can adamantly say that I love my job. I always knew in the back of my mind, even as a child, that I wanted to work with children and books. Some of my most memorable moments have been when a student comes to me and asks what my favorite books are. We talk, I give suggestions, and a child is off to find magic from the pages in a book.
I tend to be rather passionate about my hobbies. Gardening, mostly flowers and landscaping, is a love that I probably inherited from my father. Although his love of gardening includes a very large vegetable patch and a few fruit trees, I have learned many tricks of the trade for cultivating perennial plants. A few summers ago my father helped me plant my first apple trees for my tiny orchard. Also, I have been waiting to build a fantastic play area in the yard.
Other hobbies that I enjoy include reading, home improvement, and watching sports. For many devoted years, I have been a member of my church choir, and at times I have accompanied the choir with the playing of my flute. Every summer, I gather up my brushes and paints to create the backdrops for my church’s vacation bible school program. I have been directing and/or helping with VBS ever since I was a teenager and I still love it.
I am content with my current situation; I have a secure and fantastic career, I have purchased my own home, and I have had a healthy life. I live in a quiet, area that has much to offer to a child. The schools are excellent, there are many activities in and around my community, and there are many services within the surrounding county. Also, I have much confidence that my family and friends would be there should I need any assistance.
I feel that I am at a point in my life where I am ready to raise a child and want more than anything to be a mother and feel that I am ready to take this large step in my life. I have discussed my feelings with my family and my friends. They are very excited and supportive of my wishes. I believe that God is pointing me in this direction for a reason, to be able to love, nurture and provide a home for my child.
As you make this difficult decision in your life, know that I will honestly and compassionately care for your child. He or she will be given every opportunity to pursue their dreams. I will love, nurture, and support your child, and cherish each and every moment that you have given me.
May God be with you as you choose adoption for your baby. Thank you for considering me as a loving and nurturing mother. I will provide a wonderful life and a caring family for your child.
With great love and respect,
Jane
