Choose A Family : Parent Profile

Gabriel and Wendy

We cannot imagine the emotions and heavy thoughts you have been enduring as you try to figure out what is best for you and your child. We admire and respect you for considering adoption and think that this is the most selfless loving act you can bestow a child. We pray that you may have God’s Blessing during this process to give you peace, guidance, and comfort in your decision.

We are excited that you are reading our profile and grateful for your consideration. We adopted our son, Elias, in 2008. Our experience has been living proof that God creates families through many means. We no longer feel a loss from our inability to conceive but now celebrate the love and joy we have for our family so much that we want to continue to grow!

We have found parenthood to be the most rewarding experience. It has allowed us to live outside of ourselves and has elevated us to be better people and even a better husband and wife to each other. We both long to have another baby in our home, to embrace, love, and nurture. Elias too is now mature enough, and definitely independent enough, to be welcoming of a new sibling.

About Gabriel…
Gabriel comes from a large Latino family raised by his mother and father who are generous loving people and are wonderful grandparents. Gabriel is the oldest of three boys and has been a role model and source of encouragement. Both his siblings are married with 8 children among them. His family is very devoted, nurturing, and supportive and has been a great influence in making Gabriel the man he is today; compassionate, loyal, and strong.

About Wendy…
Wendy was raised by her mother, along with her brother and sister who are 8 and 10 years older than her. Both her siblings are married with 5 children among them. Being the youngest of the family she has received much love. Wendy’s mother, who passed away in 2002, taught Wendy to be independent, open-minded, charitable, and to dream. She also influenced her to have a love for animals, cooking, home remodeling and gardening. But most importantly they shared a cherished bond as mother and child for which Wendy has embraced again, this time as the mother.

Our history…
We both lived similar paths. We both graduated from college, Gabriel from Stanford and Wendy from USC, and focused on our careers. We both came to a realization that our careers were consuming the better part of our lives as we each had a desire to be married and to be part of a family. Gabriel sought out a city position as an Environmental Engineer; he now has great job security and benefits and best of all is close to home. Wendy is now a self-employed mortgage broker with a home office and is a full-time stay-at-home mother.

We found each other through e-harmony.com in 2004. We discovered we had all the same interests too. We loved home remodeling and now live in a house we constructed ourselves. We have designed the home to accommodate the needs of a family, with 4 bedrooms, one of which Wendy has decorated just for the baby. We have a very strong devotion to family and children. We run marathons and love hiking/backpacking, skiing/snowboarding, golfing, cycling, salsa dancing and taking road trips with an emphasis in seeing historical/architectural sites, and we have developed common interests; our Catholic faith, sewing, gardening, and attending cultural events from the LA County Fair to the Hollywood Bowl and everything in between.

We married in 2006. We excitedly welcomed Elias into our family on Halloween 2008; our little “trick or treat” has proved to be such a treat! We now have a new base of friends with children, Wendy works out with a Mommy and Me exercise group, Elias attends both Spanish and Music classes, we have memberships to the Zoo and Kidspace Museum for fun outings, and enjoy just playing at home. Home has the security of mom and dad, the benefit of the dogs, a cat, toys, games, balls, cars & trains, outdoor water play & tricycles and the extended family is always around.

Our prayer for our children…

Our prayer for our children is that their lives should be full of love, encouragement, tenderness, joy, faith, wonderful experiences and traditions, and family and friends. We pray that we as their parents may provide them with stability, attention, praises and protection. We pray they mature into well-adjusted adults with confidence and character.
