Eric and Kim
Aloha, it’s great to meet you! We are Eric and Kim from Northern California. Along with our two-year old daughter Addison, we are thrilled at the prospect of welcoming your child into our family of three. We are so grateful to have this opportunity to share a part of our lives with you over these pages. We are happily married with one energetic and sweet daughter, Addison, who joined our family through the selfless gift of adoption. Our home is full of love, activity and laughter. We spend most of the time together as a family and there’s always something new going on…..vacations, play dates, dance lessons…you name it! As you go through our profile, we hope you can picture your child as a part of our family.
Here’s the Skinny
We are basically two outgoing, confident goofballs who see life as one big adventure and want to live every day to its fullest. Kim is the bubbly, lighthearted, never-ending optimist, while Eric is the strong, quick-witted, realist of the relationship. We both value family and friendship and trust that ultimate happiness lies in the power of love, commitment and acceptance.
This is Eric (Written by Kim)
Eric is a gentle spirit and a loving man. He is generous, funny, and smart. He has more integrity than anyone I know. Eric has a great sense of humor, which keeps me laughing all the time. He is a wonderful and thoughtful husband, who makes me laugh each and every day. We love to spend our time together doing family type activities, whether it’s playing in the park, an afternoon with friends, or just relaxing over a meal in the backyard. He’s such a positive influence, he is always smiling, and can make friends with anyone. He has a calm, steady presence, and I trust him completely with my heart and with my life. Eric is extremely smart and focused - he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and serves as an officer in the U.S. Army. Because of his focus, I know that I can count on Eric to bring levelheaded perspective to any of life’s challenges. As a young man, Eric developed a love for the outdoors that has continued into his adulthood. He is an avid runner, skier, surfer, and fisherman, but he can also be found reading a good book on world history, war memoirs, and presidential biographies. Eric once told me that one of his fondest childhood memories was when his father taught him how to make his famous beef enchiladas with red sauce. At times, Eric can now be found in the kitchen making his own famous version of enchiladas - chicken with white sauce.
Eric has spent the last 19 years as an Army officer and continues to serve our country. He loves his job and has experienced many adventures in his various assignments. He is always home for dinner and is more than willing to clean up after I’m finished with concocting up something for us to eat. Luckily, his schedule is now fairly regular and he has the flexibility to take time off for holidays and family vacations.
I am super excited for Eric to become a dad again. He is an amazing father and he lights up each time he sees Addison and welcomes her with loving arms. He is patient and kind and shows genuine interest in Addison’s passions, whether it is her love of coloring or riding her tricycle. Eric is eager to share his experience and participate, whether it is being the softball or soccer coach or helping out with school projects. Simply, he is just eager to continue taking active roles as a father in our children’s lives.
This is Kim (Written by Eric)
Kim’s entire face lights up when she smiles and her laughter is infectious. I think this is what initially drew me to her, but it was her generosity, compassion, and boundless optimism that hooked me. Kim’s joyous spirit provides a perfect balance to my grounded sense of reality. Intelligent and strong-willed, she constantly challenges my assumptions and keeps me focused on the important things in life. There is no one I would rather have by my side through life.
Growing up on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, Kim spent most of her time at the beach catching a few good waves, and she loved to play soccer and softball. She enjoyed the competitive nature of sports and was always one of the loudest cheerleaders on her team. Now she loves to run 5k and 10k runs, and enjoys a good game of soccer or softball every now and then.
Kim loves to cook and feels strongly about using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. She spends time on weekends preparing meals for friends who tend to stop by around dinnertime. Kim makes delicious, healthy meals, but also has a knack for making terrific desserts. My current favorite is her mango cheesecake!
Kim is an incredible mother, and she loves children. Nothing brings her more joy than spending time with our daughter Addison, whether they are cuddled up in bed reading a book, playing in the park on the jungle gym or having their girls day filled with shopping excursions. Kim enjoys spending time with her besties from college and their little ones. She has them over the house for girl’s night, slumber parties or days filled with craft projects. She is eager to add one more to our family.
This is Addison
Addison is an amazing and beautiful girl. She is petite with platinum blonde hair and bright blue eyes. As a two year old, we love seeing her personality come out and she impresses us each day with the things she has learned. One of her favorite thing to do is color. Although we try to get her to sit at her art table to color in her book, we’ve caught her “coloring” the tile floors, bedroom walls and closets. Luckily, she has washable crayons, which makes cleanup easy.
Addison is also a smart, active little girl who loves Mickey Mouse and is constantly asking for “Kickey”. She has also learned the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song that she sings in her own words. It’s super cute! Addison is also very independent and her own person. She always has to do everything herself and at her own pace but also knows her limitations and knows when to ask for help. Addison has a very kind and tender side. She adores cuddling and always asks for “more hugs!”. She often says, “Wuh woo (love you) Mommy” or “Wuh woo Daddy”. Those three words are the sweetest words that a parent can hear.
Addison LOVES bath time because Eric plays his guitar and sings to her while she’s in the tub. It’s the cutest thing to see her sing along with him, and the laughter that permeates our house is the greatest sound and makes our home a joyful place to be. Addison is a loving and gentle spirit and we take pleasure in watching her grow into this very special person, and we know that she will be an awesome big sister!
Our Adoption Journey
Our beautiful daughter Addison joined our family through the gift of adoption. The entire process was filled with anticipation and joy the moment our adoption advisor called to tell us the great news; we had been chosen, and that our baby was due in two weeks! We immediately went shopping to get all the baby items on the “new baby checklist” we found on the Internet. Needless to say, we went overboard and bought everything in sight trying to prepare for Addison’s arrival. About a week later, we received a phone call informing us that the birth mother was in labor and we needed to get on a plane immediately. Through numerous phone calls and itinerary changes, we were on the plane the next day. Although Addison arrived 4-days early and we were caught off guard, no words can express the love we felt when we held her in our arms for the first time. We were ready this. We were ready for her!! During our stay in the hospital, we were blessed to have met her birth mother and we spent a few hours talking to her and sharing our vision for her daughter. It was very emotional and words cannot express how grateful we are to her because she gave us the ultimate gift - a family. We are looking forward to adding another baby to our family and to share our adoption journey with you.
Where We Live
We live in a great community just east of San Francisco. Our home is near local hiking trails that connect to many parks and playgrounds, all within a ten-minute walk. The area is a perfect mix of suburban and country life – we’re just fifteen minutes away from town and across the street from the countryside where horses and cows meander on the hills. Not only does our neighborhood have a very highly rated academic program, but it also offers a variety of social programs to ensure that children are well rounded. We also have the benefit of being close to the ocean, mountains, snow and lakes, which provides a never-ending selection of activities for our family.
Our Wonderful Family
We have been blessed with family and friends who are over-the-top excited to welcome another child into our lives. Our close and extended family is one that enjoys being together as often as possible. Holiday get-togethers are always fun and exciting. Eric’s family ski trips to Colorado are always jam-packed with stories of previous adventures and creating new ones. Eric’s brother, Carl, lives in Texas with his wife and their two sons. His extended family is ever growing with 5 young nephews and a niece who are looking forward to playing with their new cousin. On our trips back to Texas, we always stop at Eric and his dad’s favorite BBQ joint, where we end up eating way too much. Because after all, everything is big in Texas!
Our annual trips to Hawaii are always filled with fun-filled days at the beach, great food with family, and relaxing nights. Kim has two brothers, Ainsley and Keith, who live in Hawaii. Keith has a son who is 23, a granddaughter who is 2 and a daughter who is 16 months. Yep, crazy, right, but we love it! It is amazing when all three of the girls get together because you are able to see each of their personalities emerge. The best memory we have from our last vacation in Hawaii was when the entire ohana (family) gathered at the beach and watched the girls play in the sand. We all looked at each other and said, “This is what life is all about. Precious moments shared between families.”
Family Getaways
We enjoy traveling, and even seemingly simple trips can turn into little adventures. In Alaska, we boarded a seaplane for a bear-viewing trip in the wilderness; in Maui, we experienced the most amazing sunrise on the summit of Haleakala volcano; and in Telluride, Colorado, Kim chose the wrong run and snowboarded (or crawled) down a “Double Black Diamond”. For day trips, we love to take Addison to the two local Zoos’ we have in our area. It’s so much fun when she names some of the animals she’s learned at school. Our weekend trips to San Francisco, Bodega Bay, Carmel, and South Lake Tahoe are always great because we get to bring Tucker along.
Our Dog Tucker
As you probably guessed, Tucker the Cocker Spaniel is a beloved part of our family. We specifically chose a cocker spaniel because we wanted a dog that would be friendly and fit our active lifestyle. Tucker is 14 years old and hearing impaired but he still has a lot of spunk! Many times you can catch him taking his afternoon nap at the foot of Addison’s bed or right below her at the dinner table waiting for any table scraps to drop.
Fun Facts
The Pooh bear that Kim hugged as a child is the same Pooh bear that Addison hugs today.

Kim grew up surfing in Hawaii and thinks she still can!
Eric’s job has taken him around the globe; luckily he gets to stay home these days.
Kim is a snowboarder; Eric a skier.
Addison’s first word was “Tucker”, our pet cocker spaniel.
College football season finds us making turkey chili and cheering for our team, the University of Texas. Go Horns!!
Kim loves to flip through cheesy tabloid magazines (so does Eric, but he’ll never admit it!).
Eric jumped out of planes for the military; Kim jumped out of planes just for the heck of it!
Our Promise To You
Becoming Addison’s parents was a dream come true for us. Now, more than anything, we want to make our family and our lives complete by bringing her a little sister or brother.
We promise to raise your child in a stable home and loving family, and will nurture him or her with a healthy understanding of their adoption story. Your child will always know that he or she can come to us for comfort and guidance, and can count on us to cheer on every endeavor. We believe in strong core values – honesty, integrity, respect, and compassion, and hope to pass on these values to a child. We also hope to pass on our love of learning and will provide your child with the best possible educations. In short, all of our love and efforts will go toward providing a solid foundation from which your child can eventually spring forth and discover the world on his or her own unique terms!
In Closing
Thank you for taking a glimpse into our hearts and lives. It is hard to say goodbye and to share how grateful we are and how much respect we have for you. Instead of “goodbye” we would love to say, “until we meet again”…and hopefully this will be a new beginning instead of the end.
Sincerely,
Eric and Kim
