Choose A Family : Parent Profile

Elizabeth and Mike

Hi!

We’re Mike and Elizabeth and we would love to share with you who we are. Adopting a child would be the greatest gift life could bring us. We can’t wait to be parents!

We admire your courage in choosing adoption for your baby and hope that this note helps you make a very important decision. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us better.

We met nine years ago at our neighborhood dry cleaners. It was love at first sight!

After sparking up a conversation, we realized there was a magical connection. A couple of weeks later, we went on our first date and the rest is history.

It seems like a romantic comedy movie, and sure enough, our lives have been filled with love, fun and adventure ever since!

We’ve been blissfully married for 7 years and would love to grow our family now to include children. After finding out that we could not conceive, the decision to adopt came naturally to us. It would be an honor to adopt your baby.

We can’t wait any longer to be parents! We’re excited to protect, love and cherish this beautiful child and provide all the amazing opportunities life has to offer.

We live in Beverlywood, Los Angeles. Mike is a TV Producer and Elizabeth owns a successful advertising agency. Our jobs are creative and we live a very creative lifestyle. We love music, art, movies, theater and culture.

As you can see from our pictures, we also love traveling and exploring the great outdoors. We’re always up for an adventure! We’ve been all over the world together– including Europe, Latin America and Asia. And, we really enjoy a good old road trip here in the U.S.! We recently took a great road trip up the New England coast. Some of our favorite outdoor activities are hiking, skiing, and snorkeling. It’s so great to experience new places and cultures. It gives us a greater perspective on life and humanity. We look forward to sharing our passion for travel and the outdoors with your child.

About Elizabeth:
I’m a Southern California native but I’ve lived all over the world.

At age 8, my parents and I moved to Madrid, Spain for two years. My father was a professor at the University of California who established study abroad programs. As a teenager, our family lived in Mexico. And, during my college years at U.C. Berkeley, I spent one year living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Early in my career, I also worked in Paris, France.

As a result, I speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently and can even get by in French. I love languages!!

Now I have my own business, an advertising agency, where I use my language skills every day.

I want to give our children the same great opportunity by raising them to be bilingual. Thanks to my father, Spanish is our first language on my side of the family.

My dad passed away 12 years ago, but I know he would have been so excited that we are adopting a child. I had a wonderful relationship with him. He was an amazing person who taught me so much!

I look forward to teaching our little one some of the same things he shared with me like: how to sing in harmony, play the guitar, paint on a canvas and make the world’s best pancakes!

I am so grateful to my family for giving me such a fun and diverse cultural background. I hope to instill the same sense of curiosity for learning, freedom and adventure that my parents gave me.

About Mike:
I love the mountains and outdoor sports such as biking, hiking, paddle boarding and scuba diving.

Growing up in Colorado with three brothers, I was a very active kid. Always involved in sports, I played little league baseball, football, raced BMX and was on the local ski team. In fact, I was practically born on skis, hitting the slopes since I was two years old.

As a teenager I worked for my father’s construction company, building houses every summer. I learned the value of hard work, focus and commitment. This work ethic enabled me to put myself through college and earn a degree in broadcast communications.

After graduating from Colorado State University, I started my career as a TV reporter, eventually migrating to Producing and Directing with Discovery Channel and The History Channel. My entertainment career has taken me to incredible locations around the world such as Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, China and the Philippines.

We are ready to share our love, good fortune, stability and passion for life with a beautiful child who deserves the very best.

We know we will be the world’s greatest parents, just as our parents were for us.

About our Family:
Now living in Los Angeles, we are surrounded by friends and family. We have a very loving and supportive social circle who are so excited for us to expand our family.

Elizabeth’s aunts, uncles and cousins keep us very close to her immediate family. We love to cook and entertain, so our home is always the central gathering place. Holidays and weekends are full of fun and festivities; it’s never a dull moment.

Elizabeth is an only child and is very close to her mother, who lives nearby in Corona del Mar, CA. At least once a month, we pack up the car with the dogs and our surfboards and visit her mom, Kathy, at her beach house. Kathy is very excited to be a first time grand-mother!

Mike comes from a large Irish family of 4 brothers. Yes, Mike’s mom, Donna, is a saint! And she loves all her grandchildren so much! She has 6 grandkids already - That means that our children will have lots of cousins to play with! The entire clan lives in Colorado so we visit them often for holidays and special occasions. With so many nieces and nephews there are a lot of “special occasions”. And whenever we visit them in Colorado, we try to add a dedicated “Ski-Day” to the fun list.

Did we mention the poochers?
We have two dogs – Petunia and Trudy – who we rescued at 4 weeks old. They were sisters from the same litter and were so attached to each other. We couldn’t separate them, so we brought both of them home and have cared for them ever since. They don’t realize that they are dogs – they think they’re human, because we cuddle with them so much. They’re a bundle of energy and very sweet. They love to play and are great around little kids.

Elizabeth knows Mike will be an amazing Daddy!
From the moment I met Mike I was struck by the way he makes people feel. He is the most kind-hearted and patient person I’ve ever known. Mike puts everyone at ease with his genuine warmth. He is tender, caring, nurturing and fun. And, Mike can turn any frown upside down with his funny one-liners. He’s a natural Daddy. I can’t wait to see your baby take his or her first wobbly steps right into Mike’s safe arms.

Mike knows Elizabeth will be an incredible Mommy!
Elizabeth is the sweetest, loveliest, most compassionate person you will ever meet. Everyone who knows her, adores her. She loves kids, and kids love her. She will be the best mommy. She’s a great cook and she loves to sing! I can’t wait to see her signing a lullaby to our baby.
