David and Shanna

Hi there!
We are Dave and Shanna. We feel lucky to have found each other and now live appreciating our moments and experiences as a family. Here’s what we’ve been doing so far on our journey to becoming parents!

We met in New York while Shanna was visiting her best friend from college….who happened to be dating Dave’s brother. We saw something almost instantly recognizable in each other and travelled across the country between California and New York for a couple years seeing each other just to make sure we were right about wanting to be together all the time. We were right! We got married in 2006 in front of family and closest friends and later set off to explore Spain.

We both have said again and again how we wouldn’t have changed a thing about that night, and the same is true for our desire to be parents despite learning we are unable to conceive a child together.

About Us:
Shanna is a pediatrician who not only has seen, smelled, and touched all that goes with birth, infants, kids and teens, even answering calls with timely advice at 2 o’ clock in the morning. “He swallowed a domino? I think you better go in…” She loves ice cream and trips to Coronado Island, and was a competitive swimmer.

Dave is an AVP of healthcare market analysis, and the eighth of his mom’s ten children and was raised on a dairy farm. He always has a unique and patient response to go with his earnest and adventurous spirit about life. He’s known to support all Michigan sports teams from baseball to hockey, which he occasionally plays with in a league here. He enjoys a good steak and potato with red bell peppers, made on his own grill.

Family Moments:
About three years ago, we picked up Sam, our boxer pup. He is full of personality and keeps us laughing, moving, and playing if not by just a glance (we’re softies) then by dropping each of his toys in our lap, one by one. Perseverance…it’s a family characteristic!

We like to pack everybody up and check out new places and go on adventures both local and afar. We enjoy seeing and learning about new things and taking up new hobbies, like photography. But, we’re fortunate to have family that is there for us on a day-to-day basis as a foundation of values and support. We have many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles all ready to add another to our pack. Whether it’s lounging by the ocean or visiting the dairy-milking parlor, it’s always interesting!

We believe in character and living for what you stand for and striving to always better yourself both in quiet and pivotal moments.
We look forward to what’s next and believe in one another and trust it will be right…it has been so far!
