Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Adam and Kari
Dear Birthmother,
The child that comes into our home will grow up knowing it was your courage, strength and unconditional love that brought us together as a family. We can not begin to understand the emotions you are going thru, we can only hope to bring some comfort in your journey with our promise that your child will be cherished and celebrated everyday.
Our love story
Adam and I met 13 years ago and it was love at first sight. We both were at a bar and grill with friends when Adam asked if he could join us for a game of darts. We had our first date shortly after and never looked back. We dated for 4 years and have been happily married for 9 years. The first years of marriage were amazing, and then the time came when we were ready to start our family. We knew before getting married we would face some challenges in creating a family. After 2 years of infertility treatments we made the best decision of our lives…we decided to adopt!!! We adopted our son Owen 6 years ago and we loved every part of the adoption process. We feel so blessed to be able to add to our family thru the miracle of adoption again. Adam and I have a marriage based on a very strong Christian faith and mutual respect for each other. Over the past 13 years our love has grown and changed in ways we never imagined and believe the foundation we have together will last us a lifetime. After 9 years of marriage we still hold hands and still the best of friends!!

What adoption means to us
It is very hard to put into words what adoption means to us. We are so eternally grateful to Owens birthparents, and we never forget it was them who brought us together as a family. We have such a special relationship with them and we pray it will continue to grow for a lifetime. It is such an honor to be able to say we are a family created thru adoption. We are very open with Owen about his story and we plan on being that way with his little brother or sister. Adoption is an amazing way of seeing God’s grace and love.
Home Sweet Home
We recently moved to the small mountain town Adam grew up in. We had lived in a bigger city and enjoyed the perks, but knew we wanted a different kind of life to raise our children. The town is located in a ski resort town that is the kind you see in movies. We have a farmers market in town every Friday, music festivals called “Music in the Pines” where the whole town comes out for good music and fun, all the shops in town hand out candy for trick or treating at Halloween, and there is even a lighting of the town Christmas tree! It is such a special place to raise a family. Adam and I believe very strongly in the importance of a good education and are thrilled with the award winning schools in our area. We are still only an hour away from the beach and only 20 minutes away from any kind of shopping you can think of.
Our family
We are very blessed to have both sets of families close enough that we can see often. Kari is an only child and her mom lives about an hour away and makes the trip up at least 2 times a month and we often spend the weekend with her. Adams family live in the same town as us, so we see them at least 2 times a week. He has an older brother and a younger sister. There are 5 grandchildren in our family all under the age of 6 ½ and they are all ready for new cousin to play with. Both of our families are extremely excited and very supportive of our decision to adopt again, and can not wait to welcome a new baby into the family.

Our life in the mountains
Our days are filled with fun and laughter. In the summer we spend most of our days at the local lake. It has huge water slides and trampolines in the middle of it for the kids to play on. We can BBQ and play basketball or pickle ball all day long. We often will hike in the hills or spend the day riding dirt bikes and quads. In the winter we get lots of snow so we get to build snowman and forts, have snowball fights and sled, often in the middle of the street ! There are many children in the neighborhood which makes for fun days riding bikes and scooters out front. We feel so blessed to be raising our family in the mountains.
Special Moments
We try to take time out of our busy lives to focus on the special moments of life. Some of our best days are around the holidays. Kari’s favorite time of year is the Fall. We go apple picking with all the cousins every year, and also go to a real pumpkin farm and pick our pumpkin off the vine. Our favorite thing to do is pick both the smallest and the largest pumpkins we can find. At Christmas we will spend hours finding just the right tree. We have a tradition of taking our picture in front of the tree at the farm before bringing it home…it is a tradition we started before Owen was even born. Adam will then spend all night putting tons of lights on (you can never have too many lights!). We really enjoy the simple moments of life too, likes walks thru the neighborhoods, playing in the sprinklers and lazy Saturday mornings that usually include homemade chocolate chip pancakes!
Adam
I truly feel I am the luckiest girl in the world to be married to Adam. He is loyal, funny and always puts his family first. Adam is the person everyone wants to be friends with. He can be very supportive and caring, and can crack a joke any given moment. He brings so much laughter into our home everyday. Adam is a very hard worker and an excellent provider and is able to make his own work schedule so he never misses one special moment. Adam loves sports, classic cars and dirt bikes. Watching Adam be a daddy is best of all. No matter what he is doing with Owen he gives it his all. Adam has the perfect balance of discipline and humor and everyday he amazes me with the love he shows our family. I thank God everyday for bringing us together.

2 was on the ski team.
3 still holds the record for most tackles in football at his high school.
4 is an excellent lizard catcher (very good skill to have in the mountains!)
5 is the reigning champion in Wii “Just Dance”.
Kari
One of the best qualities about Kari is her ability to see the good in everyone. She is totally a “glass half full” type of person. Her love for children led her to be a preschool teacher for 10 years before becoming a stay at home mom (lots of great practice for being a mom!). Kari loves to bake cupcakes and cake balls (but doesn’t like to eat sweets!). She enjoys reading when she can find the time, and loves every single holiday. Her biggest passion in life is being a mom. Kari does her best to make everyday magical for Owen. Some of their favorite activities are making homemade play dough, building forts in the living room, or jumping in car at night in their pj’s to look at Christmas lights. She believes everyday is a gift and should be lived to the fullest.
5 fun facts Kari
1 dreams of being a back up singer who plays the tambourine.
2 hates cooked carrots and peas.
3 only sleeps on her left side.
4 as a child was obsessed with Elvis Presley.
5 does not like roller coasters.

Owen
Owen is a very kind, sweet, fun loving 6 year old. He is full of wonder and is so excited to become a big brother. He is totally in love with baseball and spends most of his time playing some kind of baseball. He would rather watch baseball highlights than cartoons! Living in the mountains is a 6 years old boys dream come true…he spends his days catching lizards and riding dirt bikes. He plays baseball and soccer and will be starting Kindergarten this year. We feel so honored to be his parents and love that he gets to have contact with his birthparents. We love Owen very much and are so excited to see him be the big brother we know he was meant to be.
5 fun facts about Owen
1 taught himself to whistle and will whistle all day long.
2 loves chewing gum.
3 doesn’t like frosting (Kari wipes it off for him!)
4 learned to ride a 2 wheeler bike at 3 years old.
5 still sleeps with the lovie he has had since birth.
Our promise to you
Our lives are filled with so much love and joy, but we know there is still a piece missing…another child. Adam and I look forward to all the happiness and excitement a new child brings, but we also realize the responsibility and sacrifice needed in raising a child. Your child will be brought up in a safe, loving home built on Christian faith, strong values and respect for others. We will create a life for your child where every door of opportunity is opened and they are able to follow their dreams with confidence.
We are honored you have taken the time to read a little about us and the life we share. Because of your courage in choosing adoption, people like us are able to fulfill their lifelong dream of becoming a family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you make this decision.
